Adult Community, 18+

As a neurodivergent individual, it can be hard to find a community in which others “get you” and who you feel accepted by unmasked.
A supportive neurodivergent community can be your space to explore and step into your authentic self, find others who have had similar life journeys, and connect with others more easily.

We believe that cultural identity, expression and exploration is essential for the well-being of any group of people, and as a neurominority it is also important to “find your tribe.”

We know how difficult the struggle with mental health can be, especially as a neurodivergent individual. We believe that affirmation, community, and culture are often harder to access for neurodivergent folks, and all are essential pieces for promoting mental health.

The Community Opens June 16th!

- You are 18 years or older and are looking for a community of other neurodivergent adults.
- You are diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or exploring your own possible areas of neurodivergence (this group is geared more towards autistic individuals, but other neurodivergent folks are welcome).
- You enjoy learning and can embrace a variety of perspectives and opinions different from your own.
- You are interested in continuing your own journey towards development of an affirming sense of yourself and your differences.
- You are interested in encouraging others on their own journeys towards development of an affirming sense of themselves, in a way that is accepting of ALL parts of that journey. This includes those who have recently begun exploring alternative ways of understanding neurodivergence and may still be using a more medical-model understanding and language.
- You can tolerate language and discourse that can feel non-affirming and possibly “out-dated” for the purpose of creating an inclusive community in which each member can feel welcome and learn from others who are further into their exploration of neurodivergence and self-acceptance.
- You would like to begin/continue to explore neurodiversity, an affirming approach to understanding neurodivergence, autistic/neurodivergent culture, as well as language for explaining some of the nuanced differences.
- You are interested in receiving peer insight and support, as well as offering your own non-judgmental insight and support to others.
- You are not yet 18 years old or do not feel ready for adult or mature discourse.
- You struggle to tolerate alternative points of view or find yourself becoming triggerd or highly defensive of non-affirming language or discourse.
- You do not feel ready to engage in dialogue with a non-judgmental approach.
- You do not feel open to a fully-inclusive community, including other areas of neurodiversity, race, ethnicity, sexual-orientation and gender identity.
- You are not in a place mentally in which you are comfortable being challenged by new ideas and people.
- You are in a place of mental health crisis. This community is not equipped to offer support for those in crisis mode, or those who do not feel mentally stable enough to engage in learning that can challenge their thinking.
- You feel easily triggered by others and their accounts of their past or current challenges or generalized references to others' trauma.

We believe in an affirming approach to neurodivergence and that neurodiversity is a valuable part of natural variance in our humanity.
Self-affirmation is a daily struggle for many, and is a journey in itself, not a switch that can be flipped in an “aha” moment. We believe that time spent in an affirming space can be an essential part of fostering this in yourself.
